Get Outside with Nature NB and Friends during Fredericton’s FROSTival!
With the holidays now wrapped up, that means it’s time for the New Brunswick Capital Region’s annual winter celebration, FROSTival! This 3-week festival organized by Fredericton Capital Region Tourism includes programming across the region with opportunities to take in local culture, enjoy nature, get active, spend time together as a family, eat good food, and so much more. This year, FROSTival takes place from January 23 to February 9.

Under the Stars with Ducks Unlimited
- January 23, 7-9pm
- Killarney Lake (meet in the parking lot on the beach side)
- Cost: FREE
- Enjoy the peace of the winter night as you look, listen, and call for owls and other nocturnal nature. This event is brought to you the LICHEN League, a team of nature educators from CPAWS NB, Ducks Unlimited Canada, Parks NB, Nashwaak Watershed Association, and Nature NB.
A Night Under the Stars at Mactaquac Provincial Park
- January 25, 7pm
- Mactaquac Provincial Park – Murch Field
- Cost: FREE
- The LICHEN League presents a night of interpretation under the stars. Visitors meet at Murch Field for a night of star gazing, stories, culture exchange and some hot chocolate to keep you warm. This event is put on by Parks NB, Nature NB, Ducks Unlimited, CPAWS, Nashwaak Watershed Association and Cliff Valley Astronomy.
Wandering a Frosted Wonderland & Hot Chocolate Social
- January 25, 10am; January 26, 2pm
- Fredericton Botanic Garden
- Cost: by donation
- Join renowned naturalist, Dr. Jim Goltz, for an interpretive tour of the Fredericton Botanic Garden, followed by a hot chocolate social in the Resource Centre, at 10 Cameron Court. During the Garden tour, Dr. Jim will identify plants, trees, birds, and if they aren’t too shy, our resident critters. Bring your cameras and your questions. Approximate time: 75 minutes.
Nature NB – Self-guided Walk & Hot Chocolate
- February 2, 1-3pm
- Gateway Marsh, Oromocto
- Cost: FREE
- Come explore the beauty of winter with Recreation Oromocto’s Nature NB Self-guided Walk at the breathtaking Gateway Marsh! This peaceful stroll through snow-covered trails is the perfect way to connect with nature, spot local wildlife, and take in the crisp, fresh air. After your walk, cozy up at the Visitor Information Centre, where hot chocolate will be waiting to warm your hands and lift your spirits. Bring along family and friends. This is a relaxed, come-as-you-please event, perfect for anyone looking to enjoy a bit of nature and winter magic.
